Bonnie O'Brien Jonsson is a writer and seasoned mindfulness teacher with 28 years of experience in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). She teaches at the University of California, San Francisco's Osher Center for Integrative Health, contributing to the international MBSR community. Bonnie has guided over 900 participants in exploring mortality and cultivating a more present and meaningful life through Year to Live groups. Her workshops have reached diverse audiences nationwide, as well as internationally, and she has taught mindfulness to women in prison, offering vital tools for coping with unique challenges.

 

Bonnie was trained as a Ritual Minister through Spirit Rock Meditation Center, and she has taught at various esteemed institutions, such as Google, University of California Berkeley School of Law, and California Pacific Medical Center. Her writing has appeared in Inquiring Mind, Turning Wheel, Elephant Journal, and she has an upcoming article in Tricycle print magazine that delves into themes from her upcoming memoir, Bone, Breath, and Fire. She is a member of The Author's Guild, Women's National Book Association, and the Coalition of POW/MIA Families.

 

As a founding supporter of the Compassion Coalition, she engages with communities dedicated to healing and compassion. Combining personal experience with professional expertise, Bonnie is committed to guiding others through their journeys of acceptance, presence, and transformation, making her voice impactful in today's discourse on mindfulness and mortality.
